Clivia are excellent plants suited for dry shade under trees, or as indoor plants, flowering in clusters of pastel yellow shades late winter and spring.
Clivia miniata 'Belgian hybrid Yellow'APPEARANCE : Clumping, evergreen perennial with long, green, strap-like foliage. In late winter and early spring clusters of trumpet-shaped flowers appear on strong stems held high above the foliage, followed by red cherry-like seedpods.
PLANTING : Clivia perform best in filtered light in any reasonable garden soil, including dry conditions once established. It will grow in dense shade but will not flower as well.
CARE : Remove spent flowerstems to encourage more flowering. Apply less water during the cooler months, this is known to encourage more flowering in spring. Reapply mulch and apply a liquid fertiliser at half the regular strength each spring. Protect from frost, cold conditions and hot afternoon sun. Lift and divide every 3-4 years or when clumps become large.
HEIGHT & WIDTH : 0.5 m H x 0.6 m W.
