This gorgeous mallee gum is small enough to fit even paperback sized back yards, and well worth squeezing in. The foliage is very ornamental and distinctive, and the green-yellow winter flowers open tightly packed around the stems like Edwardian ladies' muffs.

Eucalyptus kruseana - bookleaf mallee
APPEARANCE :West Coast native mallee gumtree-shrub with bright silver-grey foliage, round leaves, green-yellow flowers snuggled tightly together in amongst the leaves in autumn and winterORIGIN : Found in the wild around Kalgoorlie WA in rocky arid hilly locations.
USE FOR : Ornamental garden tree, feature shrub when coppiced (cut hard back), wildlife gardens, for flower arranging and floristry.
CLIMATE : As a WA species it prefers mild Mediterranean-climate areas of Australia with abundant sunshine, lower humidity, drier summers. Frost and drought tolerant.
PLANTING : Grows in most free-draining soil types.
CARE : Apply mulch and continue to water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks and regularly during extended dry periods. Prune to improve the shape and to enjoy those stems indoors in a vase.
HEIGHT : 2 - 3m H x 2m W
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
