When life gives you Bush Lemons, make... a wildlife-friendly native garden in a sunny sheltered spot?

Then sip your lemonade, while you watch the birds feeding on those hi-vis fluro flowers blooming through the year. It's one of the brightest yellow grevilleas we know.

We've included this one in trees as well as shrubs as it gets to quite a height; with pruning it would also make an impressively informal privacy screen.

Note : Our Bush Lemons are grafted grevilleas, unlike most of our other varieties. Grafting joins the main plant to another, more robust or adaptable, rootstock. This means it will grow in a wider range of soil types. Read more here

Grevillea pteridifolia x Grevillea banksii 'Bush Lemons'

APPEARANCE : Large-size warm climate grevillea, open in habit. Large fine ferny leaves which emerge silvery, and big bright yellow flowers. Fast growing into a shrub or small tree. Bred by Richard Tomkin of Changers Green nursery.
ORIGIN :Grevillea pteridifolia (manbulu, yawuny, tjummula) is unusually native to Northern Australia, from the Kimberleys of WA across NT to outback QLD. Unlike most grevilleas it prefers a 'reverse' climate of hot wet summers and dry winters. It is the parent of Honey Gem, which has larger, open, deeper yellow flowers and Sandra Gordon. G banksii is a well-known QLD variety and prolific parent of many grevilleas in our range.
USE FOR :  Suited to erosion control, coastal planting, wildlife gardens, native gardens.
CLIMATE: Tolerates dry periods once established. Needs protection from frost
PLANTING: Plant in full sun for maximum flowering. Prefers free draining soil. Note : Bush Lemons is a grafted grevillea, unlike our other varieties. This means it will grow in a wider range of soil types. The tape securing the graft point is biodegradable and should dissolve by the time the graft is complete.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 8-12 weeks until the plant is established. Prune after flowering to promote flowering, dense habit and control growth. A hard prune each 3-4 years will result in a fresh flush of flowers and foliage.  Feed with a slow release native fertiliser when buds form - grevilleas can be phosphorus-sensitive so the P ratio of the fertiliser needs to be under 3%.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 3m H x 3m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
