Annual flowering poppy in vivid red with dark centres, very familiar to even non-gardeners as a symbol of remembrance to commemorate our ANZAC service personnel. See Phillip Johnson's amazing poppy inspired display at the 2016 Chelsea Flower Show.
Papaver rhoeas 'Remembrance' - Flanders poppy, field poppy
DESCRIPTION: Tall growing annual featuring red flowers with almost black centres. Plant as a border or mass plant for a spectacular display of flowering colour. PLANTING: Autumn and Spring in cooler climates. Sow directly into garden beds or seed raising mix, apply a thin layer of soil, gently pat the soil down and keep moist. Transplant to a full sun location in free draining soil when plants are easily handled. CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established. Prefers dry conditions once established. Remove spent flowers to encourage a longer flowering season. Add a slow release fertiliser on planting for best results.
