Ocimum basilicum - Thai basil

DESCRIPTION: Pungent herb with ornamental purple stems and narrow foliage. Plant in a window box handy to the kitchen and add leaves to Thai cuisine for a fresh anise flavour.
PLANTING: Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter in warmer locations. Sow seeds directly into their final position & thin at approx 5cm in height. A full sun location is ideal.
USE IN: Thai basil pairs beautifully with the fresh flavours of authentic thai dishes. Add to noodle salads and stir-frys. Leaves may be frozen for later use.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established and continue to provide water especially during dry spells. Mulch plants to retain moisture in the soil. Tip prune plants and remove flower heads for a bushy plant and bumper harvest. Boost new growth by applying liquid fertiliser monthly. Protect from frost.
