The red cardinal is a perky bird, bright scarlet - and this award-winning Songbird aquilegia is a fine namesake with big  open flowers that it produces even at tubestock size.

If you have a dappled shade border, and good soil, this beautiful cottage garden plant will love it in your garden.

Songbird or Early BIrd aquilegias? The biggest difference is they are bred and registered by different companies. Both have large flowers that point upwards, and low compact foliage. Songbirds have an RHS Award of Garden Merit.   Early Birds have different colour pairings.
