Camellia sasanqua 'Jean May'
APPEARANCE : Soft-pink semi-double flowers above rich glossy foliage. Jean May has neat attractive flowers in bud and bloom. Sasanqua Camellias have smaller leaves and denser foliage than their cousins the “Japonicas”. They are easier to grow, more sun tolerant, and better in warmer climates. Evergreen with beautiful displays of flowers in autumn and early winter.USE FOR : Ideal for screens, hedges, espaliers and large pots.
PLANTING: Sunny or partly shaded position with morning or afternoon sun. Shelter from strong winds and exposed sites. Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter. A potting mix rich with peat moss or humus is ideal added at the time of planting.
CARE: Mulch and water well, prune after flowering and fertilise in Spring. Plant in a soil which is medium to acidic. Avoid lime.
