Eutaxia obovata – egg and bacon plant
APPEARANCE: Compact native flowering shrub, informal in shape, covered with lightly fragrant, yellow-orange and red pea-shaped flowers in spring. Found in moist eucalypt forests on the west coast of Australia but fairly adaptable to garden cultivation in other locations.USE IN: Mixed borders, mass planting, native gardens, coastal gardens. Suitable for pots and containers.
LOCATION: Dappled shade to semi shaded position in the garden, in moist soil. Tolerates most soil types. Plant in moist free draining soil rich in organic matter. A potting mix rich with peat moss or humus is ideal. Will tolerate light overnight frost once established.
CARE: Mulch and water well, prune after flowering for a tidy look and to prolong the plant's health and life. Feed with a slow release native fertiliser during spring
