Ficus elastica 'Sophie' - rubber plant, rubber fig
APPEARANCE : Compact houseplant grown indoors; large branching tree in tropical gardens. Large thick pointed oval leaves, shiny, olive green on top and bronze green below. Also sold as Sophia or Sofia
USE FOR : Easycare indoor , container or tropical garden plant. Hardy, low maintenance and air purifying. Needs a sheltered frost-free spot.
CARE : Mulch and water with a seaweed based fertiliser on planting to reduce transplant shock, follow with regular watering until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Apply a slow release fertiliser twice yearly and protect from frost. container plants may need extra feed and a repot into fresh soil once a year. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them healthy.

YOUR PLANTS : These plants are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide. May be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on. You can see an example in the image gallery
