Big glossy leaves and a neat habit make an excellent houseplant in colder regions, or shade plant in subtropical gardens. Likes humidity and regular watering, and a wipe of its leaves to clean the dust off and keep it shiny. New stems are a rich orange-red contrasting with the deep green leaves.

Perfect indoors in pots PLANTING: Prefers a sheltered position, avoid direct sunlight. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Plant away from areas where children and pets play as the leaves contain a poisonous substance. Avoid contact with skin. CARE: For a long flowering season provide plenty of bright, filtered light. Protect from cold and keep moist during dry periods. Philodendrons thrive in humid conditions, mist regularly. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. For indoor plants - wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth if you notice them collecting dust, this will refresh the foliage to its usual glossy finish.
