Syngoniums are very attractive indoor plants, and look especially good planted into hanging pots where their long trailing stems can cascade down as they grow. Black Velvet might be the most handsome of the lot, with very dark, very slender, very pointed leaves dramatically patterned with white.

Description

Syngonium rayii 'Black Velvet' - goosefoot plant, arrowhead

APPEARANCE : Slender pointed arrow-shaped leaves, velvety deep green with a contrast white stripe in the centre of each leaf. Colour develops as the plant matures
USE FOR: Ideal indoor plant for a shaded patio or indoors and interior planting schemes. Suited to underplanting in tropical style gardens.
PLANTING: Plant in a humid shady spot with indirect sunlight. Prefers free draining soil or a good quality potting mix.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 12 weeks and only if soil seems dry once established. Feed using liquid fertiliser at half rate every few weeks as the plant establishes then bi-monthly. Remove the old leaves for a quick tidy up. Likes humidity, for indoor plants regular water and a spritz on the foliage will keep them happy.
