Masses of bright violet purple double flowers smother this evergreen bush from late winter to spring. Vibrant and compact, makes a lovely dwarf hedge or container plant, with rich leaf colour in colder months.

Azalea indica 'Violacea'

APPEARANCE : Evergreen smaller-sized Azalea with bright violet purple double blooms towards the end of winter into spring, and often again in autumn. Foliage is dark green, turning wine colours in cold weather.
USE FOR : In groups as a mass display of flowering colour; informal hedging, feature plant; autumn colour.  Suitable for pots.
PLANTING : Azaleas love dappled, morning and/or afternoon sun.  Full sun is ok but not too exposed, hot and dry. Azaleas hate drying out.
Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter.
CARE : Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Continue to water on a regular basis for the first twelve months to ensure the plant becomes fully established. Prune after spring flowering to promote dense growth habit and flowering next season, fertilise using a slow release fertiliser such as Osmocote which is specially formulated for azaleas
