This graceful native restio is the answer to your prayers if you are looking for an elegant grass for revegetation, wetland areas, waterlogged soils, pond margins, erosion control, and to provide shelter for native creatures. The bright apple-green fronds contrast with chestnut brown banding along each slender stem.

APPEARANCE :   Native rush, tall and slender, variable in height. Bright green delicate fronds on long stems, with contrasting bands of chestnut brown where the fronds emerge. Annual brown flowerheads which develop into seeds
ORIGIN : Found in wet and waterlogged sandy places along the east coast of Australia
USE FOR :   Waterlogged soils, creeks and riverbanks, bog gardens, pond margins, native and wildlife gardens. Mass landscaping and wetland revegetation. Popular for floral arrangements.
CLIMATE: Grows in humid climates and dry ones. Tolerates light frost.
PLANTING:  It grows in sandy soils, clay and rich loam in the wild. Plant in sun or shade. Water regularly after planting in dry spells, until established.
CARE: Almost no maintenance required. Thin out dead stalks to improve appearance if necessary; trim by half every 2 -3 years to rejuvenate. (You can see a trimmed plant in the blue pot in the image gallery)
