Camellia sasanqua Paradise Glow
Big, bold, and in winter sunshine, definitely glowing! Lots of large open pink blooms with golden centres from late autumn through the cooler months, on this 3m evergreen shrub. Plant it in a tub, plant it in your borders, plant it as a hedge - this camellia looks stunning wherever you choose. Sansaqua type, so better for warmer humid gardens than the japonicas.
Camellia sasanqua 'Paradise Glow'
APPEARANCE : Evergreen shrub with masses of large mid-pink single flowers with golden centres over a long flowering period in late autumn and early winter. Vigorous and slender in profile, ideal for hedging. Sasanqua Camellias have smaller leaves and more dense foliage than the Japonica varieties. They are more sun tolerant, better in warmer climates, and earlier flowering.
USES: Ideal for screens, hedges, espaliers and large pots.
PLANTING: Sunny or partly shaded position with morning or afternoon sun. Shelter from strong winds and exposed sites. Plant in a free draining soil rich in organic matter. A potting mix rich with peat moss or humus is ideal added at the time of planting.
CARE: Mulch and water well, prune after flowering and fertilise in Spring. Plant in a soil which is medium to acidic. Avoid lime.
