A classic native shrub for dry climate gardens and free-draining light soil. Flowers in purple from winter into spring depending on the location. Makes a generous informal shrub or large hedge, and responds well to a good pruning after flowering to keep it neat.

Chamelaucium uncinatum - purple Geraldton Wax, purple waxflower

APPEARANCE : Native west coast Australian shrub with a upright growth habit and purple flowers winter through to spring.
USE FOR : Feature shrub, native mixed plantings, large informal hedge, wildlife attracting. Long-lasting cut flower for the home too.
CLIMATE : Prefers low humidity climates. Tolerates light frost and is drought resistant once established.
PLANTING : Plant in free draining soil in a sunny to partly shaded position in the garden; sandy soil is ideal. Best flowering is achieved in full sun. Suitable to exposed areas in most parts of Australia.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune after flowering to encourage new growth and dense flowering next season, avoid cutting into old wood. Fertilise yearly using a slow release native fertiliser.
MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH:  Up to 4 m H x 3 m W.
