Siam Splash is a rare and unusual ornamental ginger with deep vibrant pink blooms, cup shaped, which give these plants their other common name of Siam tulip. Each petal has a splash of wine-purple for a subtle yet striking contrast, which matches the splash of purple along the centre of every leaf. Curcuma are compact and flower best in well lit areas, protect from wind and frost.

Curcuma sparganiifolia 'Siam Splash' - ornamental ginger

APPEARANCE: Exotic flowering ginger also known as Siam tulip for its similar shaped flowers. The large pink and magenta tipped purple flowers may last up to 2 months on the plant. Flowers are produced late spring to autumn; leaves have a central maroon-purple stripe down the centre. C. sparganiifolia comes from Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam
USE IN: Ideal for tropical style gardens, pots and underplanting. Can also be grown in full sun in the garden.
LOCATION: Plant in well-draining soil in a full sun to part shade location in a sheltered position in the garden.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Water regularly during dry periods. Plants will die back during winter and keep dry but don't be tempted to remove untidy leaves until they are completely brown, the nutrients from the leaves are drawn back into the rhizome for next season. At the first sign of new shoots appearing apply liquid fertiliser. Come summer your ginger will be bursting with vibrant leaves and flowers again. Protect from wind and frost.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: Up to 0.4m H x 0.5m W.
YOUR PLANTS: These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 120mm high and 50mm wide.
