Alternanthera Purple Splash
Rich dark foliage colour right through the year for frost-free locations. Fast-growing ground cover, the deep green-purple leaves splashed with pink look particularly impressive in mass plantings. The images also show Purple Splash besides the smaller-leaved Tricolour and the larger leaved Fire Bug.
Alternanthera amoena 'Purple Splash'DESCRIPTION: Purple Splash is bushy perennial with rich burgundy shades and soft pink flecks. A fast growing ground cover displaying beautiful colour throughout the year.
USES: Tropical gardens for a splash of colour. Hedges, borders and ground cover or for colour contrasting. Beautiful in groups as a mass display of colour. Suited to containers.
PLANTING: Plant in well drained soil in a full sun to part shade position in the garden. Prefers warm climates. Protect from frost.
CARE: Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune as required to maintain form and fertilise with a slow release fertiliser in spring. Provide plenty of water during the summer heat.
