Big glossy apple-green leaves, big broad shady crown, big hanging chains of golden flowers like botanical party decorations.

Great street tree for subtropical zones - there's one in James Cook Uni Cairns campus, fyi.

Lophantera lactescens - golden chain tree

APPEARANCE :  Broad fast-growing evergreen tree with large glossy bright green leaves and long chains of hanging golden flowers which give it the common name. These are followed by white seedpods. Related to acerola (Malpighia).
ORIGIN : Amazon region of South America
USE FOR : Suited to tropical gardens and feature planting. Good street tree - avoid planting under overhead lines so it can reach its full height
CLIMATE : Prefers warm, moist conditions
PLANTING: Plant in sun for best flowering. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. does not like being moved so site it carefully with a view to its mature size.
CARE: Ensure plant is well mulched and watered regularly. Provide extra water during dry periods.
HEIGHT & WIDTH:  to 20m H x 20m W.
