Philodendron 'Birkin'

DESCRIPTION:  Ornamental plant with dark green heart shaped glossy leaves which start off green and gradually develop variegation as leaves grow. Brighter light may increase colour contrast also. Usually stays compact.
USE IN: Attractive indoor plant; will grow in subtropical gardens as shaded underplanting.
PLANTING:  Needs a warm frost-free position, avoid direct hot sunlight. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks.
CARE:  For best results provide plenty of bright, filtered light. Protect from cold and keep moist during hot periods, letting it dry out a little between so it's not overwatered. Philodendrons thrive in humid conditions, mist regularly. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. For indoor plants - wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth if you notice them collecting dust, this will refresh the foliage to its usual glossy finish. Re-pot container plants at the beginning of spring.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 50cm-1m H x 50cm W.
YOUR PLANTS:  These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide. May be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on.
