This lovely native tree always seems to be up to something interesting. It can be quietly growing in its green way, providing welcome shade, and then - boom! - it's covered in hundreds of tiny white spring bells, or blue autumn berries. It's like a magic trick in your garden.
In the rainforest wild these can be big ol' giants, but in our gardens they are small and well-behaved. It's planted as a street tree locally.
