Big rich chocolatey flowers - definitely 80% cocoa. Chocloate brown new leaves too, which deepen to green.
They are slow growing when young, and we propagate from tissue culture - individual plant cells - so availability is seasonal and limited.
Anthurium andreanum 'Giant Chocolate'
APPEARANCE : Shade-loving tropical plant with large heart-shaped dark green to brown leaves and chocolate heart-shaped flowers.USE FOR : Tropical garden settings as a border or for creating depth using layers in under planting. Suited to containers and indoor gardens.
CLIMATE :Protect from frost and keep moist during dry periods. Anthuriums thrive in humid conditions.
PLANTING : Plant in sheltered position, avoid direct sunlight. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks.
CARE : For maximum flowering period provide plenty of bright, filtered light. Apply a slow release fertiliser during spring and a liquid based fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the warmer months, take care to dilute your solution to half the recommended dose to avoid burn. For indoor plants - wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth if you notice them collecting dust, this will refresh the foliage to its usual glossy finish. Re-pot container plants at the beginning of spring.
