Melaleuca Narrow Nessie - honey myrtle
The native honey myrtle is a beautiful gnarly tree in full bloom, but it can be a little large for smaller suburban gardens. Narrow Nessie (or Narrow Nessy, the breeder's own website is undecided) is smaller, slimmer and much more compact, ideal for any garden spot. Fluffy pink-purple flowers, and afterwards rounded seedpods like a baby's rattle.
Fun fact, the botanic name nesophila comes from the Greek words for Love Island : ‘nesos’ for island and ‘phileo’ for love. This refers to its natural habitat in sandy coastal regions, but we think this means it could be Sophie Monk's favourite plant...

APPEARANCE : Compact slender form of a West Coast native tree, with pink-purple pompom flowers from spring into summer, and globe shaped perforated seedpods.USE IN: Native gardens as a low hedge or feature shrub, especially in small spaces. In wildlife gardens as refuge for small birds.
LOCATION: Very adaptable to different conditions. Plant in full sun to part shade. Tolerates light frost, drought and coastal conditions once established.
CARE: Low maintenance plant. Mulch and water well, prune after flowering to encourage denser growth.
