Ranunculus asiaticus'Burgundy';
DESCRIPTION: Large deep maroon double flowers on sturdy stems.
USE IN: Plant as a flowering border below deciduous trees or group closely in pots for bright spring flowering colour.
PLANTING: Raunuculus thrive in very free draining light soil. Prepare clay soil using a clay-breaker and add well composted manure or mulch to help with drainage. Add grit or gravel to your planting holes if your soil is heavy, or plant up into containers. Plant the claw-like bulbs with legs downwards. Cover soil with a good layer of mulch to help regulate soil temperature and keep roots cool and moist. They like lots of light but not lots of heat.
CARE: Once planted, water the soil to set the bulb in place. An occasional light watering is all that's needed until they start to grow, then water and feed weekly and generously. Once flowering is finished leave plants to die back, it's not the prettiest sight but don't be tempted to trim the yellowing foliage. The nutrients are being drawn back into the bulbs for next year. When the bulbs die back completely remove spent foliage and leave in place for next season.
CLIMATE: Frost free and cool
Contains 20 bulbs.
