Princess Diana is the perfect name for this stunningly unusual Japanese hydrangea. Each individual floret is a dazzling star, as befits one of the most-photographed beauties of the twentieth century; the warm vibrant pink colour reflects her loving nature; the plant blooms from a young age, as did Diana; and it flowers in abundance, generous as the plant's namesake.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Princess Diana' PBR

APPEARANCE :  Late flowering large-leaved deciduous shrub with large pink unusually star-shaped double flower heads from summer into autumn, and soft light green leaves. Buds open green and gradually deepen to their mature colour.
PLANTING: Ideal for cottage gardens, woodland style gardens, mixed beds, large containers.
LOCATION: Hydrangeas prefer a partly shaded position in the garden, rich soil, and plenty of water during dry periods. Very cold hardy.
CARE: Water regularly during the first 8-12 weeks until the plant is established and regularly after that - hydrangeas are thristy. Apply a slow release fertiliser early spring when new leaves emerge. Protect from harsh sunlight. Most macrophyllas flower on old wood so site them carefully to give them space to grow. Princess Diana will flower on new wood as well. Prune by deadheading spent flowers back to a leaf joint in autumn.
HEIGHT & WIDTH: 1m H x 1m W.
YOUR PLANTS:  These are tubestock plants with a healthy young root system and will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80 mm x 42 mm wide. Your plants may be supplied as 'plugs', slightly smaller than our usual tubestock but with a healthy root system ready for planting or potting on. You can see an example in the image gallery.
